About PROVE
Progressive's Policy Retrieval and Online Verification Engine (PROVE) is a free Web site designed especially for lenders and those who track insurance coverage for financed and leased vehicles. PROVE allows lenders and trackers to easily verify coverage on vehicles online, and to obtain printed documentation when needed. You can find PROVE at www.provelp.com.

Registering for PROVE

Access levels
There are two levels of access for PROVE, company contacts and regular site users. Each company can have 3 company contacts in addition to 50 site users.

Getting started
In order to begin using PROVE, you need to register your company by calling Progressive toll free at 1-800-888-7764. Just say “I’d like to register for PROVE.” You will need the following information:

Logging in to PROVE

Logging In
  1. Go to www.provelp.com.


  2. Enter your user ID and password.
  3. Click "Login."

Selecting new password
When you log in for the first time, and every 120 days after, you must update your password. To do so:
  1. Enter your new password. Your new password must:
    - Be 7-8 characters long
    - Have at least one upper case letter,
    - Have at least one lower case letter,
    - Have at least one number,
    - Have at least one symbol (@, #, or $.)
    - Not be the same as your last 11 passwords.
  2. Verify the new password in the following field.
  3. Click the “Continue” button.

Selecting shared secrets
When you log in for the first time, you must provide answers to shared secret questions that help confirm your identity if you forget your password. To do so:
  1. Choose two different questions from the drop down menus. You may only use letters, numbers and spaces in your answers.
  2. Provide answers you will remember. You can only use letters, numbers and spaces in your answers.

Acknowledging the User Agreement
When you log in for the first time, and every 120 days after, you must read and acknowledge the User Agreement. To do so:
  1. Read the information in detail.
  2. Click either the “I agree” button or the “I don’t agree” button. If you select the second button, you will be rerouted to the login page.

Getting a forgotten user ID
For assistance with a forgotten user ID, call Technical Support at 1-888-678-7885 Monday through Friday, 7 AM – 5 PM Eastern Time.

Getting a forgotten password
  1. Click the “Forgot your password?” link at the bottom of the login page.


  2. Enter your user ID and click the “Continue” button.
  3. Give the answers you chose for your two shared secret questions. The answers to these questions confirm your identity.
  4. Click the “Continue” button.
  5. Select a new password. Your new password must:
    - Be 7-8 characters long
    - Have at least one upper case letter,
    - Have at least one lower case letter,
    - Have at least one number,
    - Have at least one symbol (@, #, or $.)
    - Not be the same as your last 11 passwords.
  6. Verify the new password in the following field.
  7. Your password has been reset. Click the “login to PROVE” link to login to the site.

Updating Your User Profile


Changing your personal information
  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, click “Update Your User Profile.”


  3. Click “Change Your Information.”


  4. Make any updates that need to be made.
  5. Click the “Submit” button to save your changes.

Changing your password
  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, click “Update Your User Profile.”


  3. On the next screen, select “Change Your Password.”


  4. Enter a new password. Your new password must:

  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, click “Update Your User Profile.”


  3. On the next screen, click “Change Your Shared Secrets.”


  4. Select two different questions from the drop down menus and provide answers you will easily remember. You may only use letters, numbers and spaces in your answers.
  5. Click the “Submit” button to save your changes.

Updating Your Company


Note:
The items below are accessible only to company contacts.


Updating your company’s address
If you are a company contact, you have access to update your company’s address. To do so:
  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, click “Update Your Company.”


  3. Underneath the Company heading, click “Update Company Address.”


  4. Make and changes that need to be made.
  5. Click the “Submit” button to save your changes.

Viewing the list of company contacts
  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, click “Update Your Company.”


  3. Underneath the Contacts heading, click “Add/Delete Company Contacts.”


  4. This page will show your company contacts. From this page you can add or delete contacts.

Adding company contacts
You can have up to 3 company contacts listed for your company. To add a new contact:
  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, click “Update Your Company.”


  3. Underneath the Contacts heading, click “Add/Delete Company Contacts.”


  4. Click on the “Add Another Contact” button.
  5. Enter the information listed below:
    - First and last name
    - Title
    - Phone number
    - E-mail address
  6. Click the “Submit” button to save your changes.

The contact will receive an e-mail at the address you have provided with a user ID and password for access to PROVE.

Deleting company contacts
  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, click “Update Your Company.”


  3. Underneath the Contacts heading, click “Add/Delete Company Contacts.”


  4. To delete a contact, click the “Delete” button next to the contact you no longer want to include.

Viewing the list of site users
  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, click “Update Your Company.”


  3. Underneath the General Site Users heading, click “View All Users.”


  4. All users of the site will be listed. To add or delete a user, select one of the links at the bottom of the page.

Adding site users
You can have up to 50 users registered for you company. To add a new user:
  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, click “Update Your Company.”


  3. Underneath the General Site Users heading, click “Add New Users.”


  4. Enter the information listed below:
    - First and last name
    - Title
    - Phone number
    - E-mail address
  5. Click the “Submit” button.
  6. To add another user click the "add another user" link on the confirmation page.

The users will receive an e-mail at the address you have provided with a user ID and password for access to PROVE.

Deleting site users
  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, click “Update Your Company.”


  3. Underneath the General Site Users heading, click “Delete Users.”


  4. Select the boxes next to all of the users you want to delete.
  5. Click the “Submit” button to save your changes.

Vehicle Lookup/Search


Looking up a vehicle

  1. Login to PROVE.
  2. On the Vehicle Lookup screen, enter the following information for the vehicle you are researching:
    - First eight digits of the policy number
    - Last four digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN.)
  3. Click on the button labeled “Lookup.” You will then see the Policy Summary Page.

Policy Summary page
On the policy summary page, you will find the following information:

Occasionally, a policy will have more than five drivers or more than two additional interests. If this occurs, you will see a message in the upper right hand corner of the screen. You will need to call Policy Services at 1-800-888-7764 if you need information on an additional interest or driver that is not shown.

The information that is provided on the PROVE screen is current as of the previous business day. Occasionally, we may be in the process of updating a customer’s policy. When this occurs, you will see a message shown in the upper right hand corner of the Policy Summary screen indicating that a policy change is pending. For more information, see the Pending Changes section below.

Mailed payment notifications

Payment coupons that we provide for customers include special bar coding. When that coding is scanned upon receipt at the post office, we receive notification. If the scan date is prior to the due date we expect to receive the payment coupon on time. While the notification is an indication of the postmark date, it does not guarantee delivery or that the customer has included the minimum payment due.

We must receive and process the payment, including at least the minimum amount due, before the policy status can be updated. The payment must be postmarked on or before the due date.

When you view the policy summary page you find the notification at the top of the page. (see below)

Pending changes
If there is a change pending on a policy you look up, you will be unable to make changes to the policy. To determine if the change that is pending is related to the vehicle that you are researching, click “Click here to view details” under the red text on the right side of the Policy Summary screen.


If the change that is pending will affect the vehicle you are researching, there will be a note on the screen indicating so and the change will be shown in red on the screen.

If the change that is pending will not affect the vehicle that you are researching, there will be a note on the screen and you will be unable to see the change that is being made.

Printing the Policy Summary page
If you need to print a copy of the Policy Summary page:
  1. After looking up a vehicle, scroll to the bottom of the Policy Summary page.
  2. Click on the button labeled “Printer-Friendly Version.”


  3. When a new window pops up, use your browser’s print function to print the Policy Summary.

Changing Lienholder Information


Adding a lienholder

  1. After looking up a vehicle, click “Add Lienholder” on the right side of the Policy Summary page.


  2. Select the lienholder from the drop down list. If the lienholder is not listed, select “Other” and enter the new information.


  3. The screen will refresh with the address we have listed for the lienholder selected. If the address is incorrect, check the box next to “Check here if the address listed is incorrect” and click the “Continue” button. You will then see another screen where you can enter in the correct address.
  4. Select the “Continue” button, review the information, and click the “Submit” button to save your changes.

Adding a lienholder/additional interest
  1. After looking up a vehicle, click “Add Lienholder/Additional Interest” on the right side of the Policy Summary page.


  2. Select the proper lienholder or additional interest from the drop down list. If the lienholder is not listed, select “Other” and enter the new information.


  3. The screen will refresh with the address we have listed for the lienholder selected. If the address is incorrect, check the box next to “Check here if the address listed is incorrect” and click the “Continue” button. You will then see another screen where you can enter in the correct address.
  4. Select the “Continue” button, review the information, and click the “Submit” button to save your changes.

Removing a lienholder
  1. After looking up a vehicle, click on the link labeled “Remove Lienholder” on the right side of the Policy Summary page.


  2. To remove the lienholder, review the information then click the “Submit” button to save your changes.

Updating a lienholder
  1. After looking up a vehicle, click “Update Lienholder” on the right side of the Policy Summary page.


  2. Select the proper lienholder from the drop down list. If the lienholder is not listed, select “Other” and enter the new information.


  3. The screen will refresh with the address we have listed for the lienholder selected. If the address is incorrect, check the box next to “Check here if the address listed is incorrect” and click the “Continue” button. You will then see another screen where you can enter in the correct address.
  4. Select the “Continue” button, review the information, and click the “Submit” button to save your changes.

Changing a lienholder address
To change a lienholder address, follow the same directions as for Updating a lienholder above.

Printing the confirmation page
If you need a copy of the confirmation for a change:
  1. After making a lienholder change, scroll to the bottom of the Confirmation page and click on the “Printer-Friendly Version” button.


  2. When a new window pops up, use your browser’s print function to print the confirmation.
